Desert Night

I dreamed of making love to,

two maidens under a desert sky.

One was name death, the other life.

Both melted into my pores, as we made love.

Alpha and Omega, creating a universe in the sand.

Ribbons of onyx and umber burst forth from our joining.

Stardust exploded behind my eyes, as my essence leached into the ground.

With molecules dissipating, I joined with a furnace at the heart of a star.

A yucca burst forth from my chest, fertile in a full moon’s light.

Indian paint brush bloomed from my fingertips.

While worms made a feast of my flesh.

I floated through my dream, without will.

Beyond time, beyond ken.

Finally, I came to rest,

Upon a desert floor.

Making love to my

Beginning and

End.

Brave.

The shamanic death/rebirth experience. Love the "shape", well crafted. Question the use of the word "dream". If it really was a dream it was a truly profound one. This shamanic experience is pan-cultural, one of the most significant (and perhaps scary) things about it. Have you seen my posting under the title "Warning! This is a very long poem but I hope you find it worth it"? cheers, Jess
