Welcome Home, Soldier

Welcome home, soldier
with something to hide,
and eyes to look down
at the gravel below you.
Kiss the ground,
your mother earth.
Why are you home in the first place?
Evil people
make evil wars,
(is there any other kind?)
There are no heroes left in Canaan,
and no truth behind your own front lines.
Welcome home, soldier.

Welcome home, soldier
are you surprised with what you see?
This is the land you defended,
the land you call home.

Aggressor,
evil men
have evil intent.
Welcome home, soldier,
hang your gun on the rack.
Hang your gun
where noone can see it.
Welcome home, boy,
now take off your hat.

Take off your boots,
and your jacket as well.
Welcome home, soldier
to the huddled masses,
the vermin,
the real life people.
Welcome home, soldier
to the invisible insects.

Welcome home, soldier
to your smiling wife.
Welcome home, soldier
to your vapid family.
