Who Would You Send?
People’re starving and dying daily, the town is
dry, the young are hungry, the old are moaning,
no money, no water, no food, no light to see,
The evil politicians call for re-elections
By the same neighbours they’re killing.
God who would you send to save us?
It is barbaric, idiotic and evil too to climb to
Your throne on a skeleton of your brother,
it is sad, sorrowful and depressing to mount
the carcasses of your sisters to get to your goal.
The time has come when we must take account.
The era is now to stand up and be counted.
The hour is here for those in darkness to
See the glimmering light that lends itself.
The time is here to serve with integrity.
The season is now to be our brothers, sisters,
Our fathers and mothers keepers. God who’d
be our voice, who would you send?
Who’d stand up for us? Who would go for us?
Who’d be our feet? People are screaming
Dying in their thousands. People are shouting,
Crying in their millions. God who’d do for us?
God who’d you send to save? Let the dying souls
scream, let God sooth the pain of the helpless.
Let the writers with their inkhorns write,
Let the town criers drum round the universe,
Let evil and injustice be overthrown, let light
Overwhelm darkness, let good overcome evil
Let the evil politicians die in their millions, God
Who would you send to save us now?
