Seven Million

Silence bleeds our soul
threats combat our peaceful mind
rhetoric insults us
dismissiveness from those too blind

to see, as we're erased
diversity, tolerance defaced
soldiers to contain us
while protesting veterans are disgraced

Liberty's flame
no longer shines with great acclaim
the world is censored
from those who aren't the same

Mother Earth cries aloud
as Sacred Lands are drilled and haunted
sea and soil are defiled
as power and wealth are chased and flaunted

Everything hurts

One soul
One mind
One flame to light the way
for all mankind

One world
One chance
One moment in time
to take a stance

Speak together
Sing together
One voice together
Stand strong together

Believe in Love and Peace together

I am intrigued...

by the unseen connection of the title; seven million and the poem. I understand the poem and agree that the rich and powerful hold sway over the land and humanity's stewardship. We do have to stand up together and make sure that we save our habitat.

Mother Earth cries aloud
as Sacred Lands are drilled and haunted
sea and soil are defiled
as power and wealth are chased and flaunted

These four lines congeal as the basis for the whole thing. Nice job, ~ Geez.

Hello, Geezer,

Over seven million people took to the streets in the U.S. last Saturday.  This poem gives just a few reasons why.

Thank you so much for reading!
