School Days
I remember Sister Marie Claire
I feel the chill through my spine and the hair
I remember the ruler hitting my head
When I approached the board with dread
Math was a subject I wanted to go away
Hoping that it would be over each and every day
She was a woman with a mission in mind
Also a lady who would often be unkind
Those days are just a memory now
As a teacher myself I now know how
Kindness keeps kids wanting to stay
Willing to learn more each day
Not afraid to ask when they do not know
Seeking help from a person with a bright glow

This is a true lesson for…
This is a true lesson for every teacher. Kindness/humanity is absolutely a must trait in teachers who want to raise a generation. It's not about learning and teaching subjects, but also raising a Man .
If I may suggest, the opening lines.feel a bit awkward for me
I suggest something like
Everytime I remember Sister Marie Claire
I feel the chill through my spine and the hair.
Jut for a tighter rhythm
Thank you for sharing

School Days
Hello, Clentin,
I, too, feel a chill when I think of some of the nuns I had as teachers when I was young. Feisty women covered by their habits from head to toe, the only body parts showing - their hands and faces. Maybe they were a bit up-tight because they were uncomfortable?
Anyhoo, your poem brought back those "School Days" for me.
Thank you,
L

Sad but true vision of my early school days!
Made me think when I began teaching.

I also meant to say that I had some wonderful teachers, too! Much, it sounds like, the way you were!
Thank you!
