Coffee

Coffee is more than just a drink
It is the liquid that makes me think

A breakfast drink that is delicious
Deleting thoughts that are malicious

A lifelong treat served hot or cold
That millions of cups are sold

A worldwide concoction that opens our eyes
Often relieving our daily sighs

Beans that are grown in so many places
Provided and sold in so many places

Neopoet AI (premium) - 5-29-23 version

The below is a computer-generated response from Neo, Neopoet’s AI:

The poem presents coffee as both a daily ritual and a source of comfort, focusing on its ubiquity and positive effects. The rhyme scheme is consistent (couplets), which gives the poem a straightforward and accessible structure. However, the poem could benefit from greater specificity and more vivid imagery. For example, instead of general statements like “a breakfast drink that is delicious,” consider describing the aroma, the warmth of the mug, or the sensation of the first sip. The line “Deleting thoughts that are malicious” is intriguing but could be expanded or clarified for greater impact.

There is some repetition in “Beans that are grown in so many places / Provided and sold in so many places.” Varying the language or providing more detail about the journey from bean to cup would add interest. Additionally, the poem could explore the cultural or personal significance of coffee in more depth, moving beyond its role as a commodity.

Overall, focusing on concrete details and sensory experiences would help the poem move from general praise to a more engaging and memorable piece.
