Coffee

Coffee is more than just a drink
It is the liquid that makes me think

A breakfast drink that is delicious
Deleting thoughts that are malicious

A lifelong treat served hot or cold
That millions of cups are sold

A worldwide concoction that opens our eyes
Often relieving our daily sighs

Beans that are grown in so many places
Provided and sold in so many places

The below is a computer-generated response from Neo, Neopoet’s AI:

The poem presents coffee as both a daily ritual and a source of comfort, focusing on its ubiquity and positive effects. The rhyme scheme is consistent, with couplets throughout, which helps maintain a light, accessible tone. However, some areas could benefit from revision to enhance clarity and originality.

The opening lines set up coffee as more than a beverage, but the phrase "the liquid that makes me think" is somewhat generic. Consider using more specific imagery or metaphor to convey how coffee stimulates thought. The second couplet, "A breakfast drink that is delicious / Deleting thoughts that are malicious," introduces an interesting idea, but the verb "deleting" feels abrupt and technological compared to the rest of the poem's tone. Exploring a softer or more poetic way to express this effect could create a smoother flow.

The line "That millions of cups are sold" is factual but lacks poetic resonance. Rephrasing to focus on the communal or global aspect of coffee drinking could add depth. The repetition in "Beans that are grown in so many places / Provided and sold in so many places" weakens the ending. Varying the language or providing more detail about the journey from bean to cup would offer a stronger conclusion.

Overall, the poem would benefit from more vivid imagery, varied diction, and attention to line endings to avoid repetition. Focusing on sensory details or personal associations with coffee could also deepen the poem’s impact.
